Sigma Chapter - About Us
Our Mission Statement
The purpose of the Sigma Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma is to encourage, establish and enhance the professionalism of students in the Risk Management, Healthcare Risk Management, and Actuarial Science programs. Sigma Chapter is part of an international fraternal organization which creates camaraderie among our members by collectively challenging them to develop the practices, skills and industry contract they will need for a successful and sustainable career. In addition, we encourage the personal development of our members through acts of community service and charitable donations. The success of Sigma Chapter will ultimately be measured by our ability to produce the next generation of industry leaders by enabling our members to continually develop themselves both personally and profesionally. We will accomplish this by ultilizing valuable resources, including our fellow chapters of Gamma Iota Sigma, The Fox School of Business and Management, a rich tradition in a strong professional network and a distinguished Alumni Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma.
Gamma Iota Sigma Emblem
The Emblem is a shield in the shape of inverted triangle. Inside a narrow border are Greek letters for Gamma Iota Sigma. Each of three sides symbolizes three of four fraternal ideals.
Gamma Iota Sigma Coat of Arms
The Coat of Arms for Gamma Iota Sigma is in the shape of what is known as a fire mark. Fire marks were made of iron and placed on the exterior of the buildings on insured properties so as to identify the specific fire company that, in the event of a fire, would serve to extinguish it. The fire mark is decorated with the symbol of the four clasped right hands. Each hand is representative of one of the four ideals upon which the fraternity is based. Beneath clasped hands are the Greek letters for Gamma Iota Sigma.
