Gina participated in the Underwriting Professional Development Program, a program designed to develop skills in insurance underwriting, sales, marketing, and product knowledge, this summer at Travelers.  Her daily activities included pre-underwriting files, learning the technical aspects of underwriting, and participating in agency visits.  Her mentor and other underwriters in her department were impressed with how well her RMI classes prepared her for the position which led to more challenging assignments such as being held responsible for underwriting her own files.

Travelers paid for Gina to fly to Hartford for a 3-day intern symposium; she also traveled to Edison, NJ for a 2-day Eastern Zone meeting.  During all of her travels, her meals and any other expenses were covered.  Gina enjoyed that the Travelers employees treated her as a regular employee, and when she asked for more challenging assignments, they obliged.  One of these assignments included developing blast emails that were sent out to the entire region on Travelers packages such as Ciber First and Med First.  Overall, Gina found the experience to be beneficial to her career development and would recommend Travelers to other students.
