Jennifer worked at Buck Consultants in New York this summer.  Jennifer says adapting to New York was fairly easy once she learned the more complicated subway system.  The mentor she was assigned to provided her with much of the work for the summer in the Retirement practice.  Jennifer’s AS classes helped her, especially Theory of Interest Class and Modeling I and II. Also, Introduction to Risk Management helped with understanding the necessary terms and vocabulary. Although Jennifer’s experience was not exactly what she expected after interviewing for the position, she enjoyed her time at Buck Consultants. Some perks during the summer included a housing stipend, training, volleyball games, softball games, happy hours, and an intern and new hire event that took place on a cruise.

She participated on a project where she calculated liabilities for companies to enroll employees into a Municipal Employees Retirement System as well as liabilities for an auto company looking to freeze its plan. She worked with the Communications practice on material for the maternity program they were doing with a retail company.

Jennifer really liked everyone she worked with as well as the training she received. She would recommend this company to other students.
