Jennifer interned with Conner Strong and Buckelew this past summer.  While there, she assisted benefit consultants with day-to-day work which included analyzing benefit programs for clients serving a midsized market segment, as well as communicating with insurance carriers. She also created and analyzed exhibits to compare plan costs, plan designs, and geo-access information to help clients understand their benefit renewal options.  In addition, Jennifer drafted stewardship reports and renewal presentations for clients in addition to creating and sending request for proposals to insurance carriers.  Her RMI classes better prepared her for her position, specifically the medical benefits plan structures and the differences between plans.  Having learned about health care reform was also useful because she was able to answer specific questions consultants had.

Jennifer liked how the all of the benefit interns were divided into teams.  She had a strong team that contributed to her experience at Conner Strong and Buckelew.  They assigned her a heavy workload and provided constructive feedback.  She also enjoyed some additional benefits of her internship.  Lunches were provided during weekly “Lunch and Learns,” the Philadelphia office extended happy hour invitations, and Reliance took her and a few other Conner Strong consultants to a Phillies game. Other than disliking her commute, Jennifer would not change anything about her experience with Conner Strong and Buckelew and would recommend the company to other students.
