Timothy worked at Northwestern Mutual in Philadelphia this summer. A typical day would included an early start every day and begin training around 7:15am. An hour later, he’d start calling people to set up appointments. In the afternoon, Timothy would be out attending any appointments that had been scheduled.

For this job, his RMI classes helped tremendously. Timothy had to pass a state licensing test to sell insurance and a large majority of the test was devoted to material covered in Dr. Drennan’s 3501 class.  Although the job was not in line with what he expected from the interview process, Timothy was pleasantly surprised.

Timothy loved the people at Northwestern Mutual, including all of the other interns.  He really liked the atmosphere too because people weren’t uptight or unhelpful.

In addition, “The workload is tough because you can only get out what you put in.” To be successful, you have to have a sense of humor to get into sales because dealing with rejection all the time will drive you mad unless you find a way to laugh it off. In all, Timothy would recommend this internship to other students.
