Provide a General Description of the Internship. Include daily tasks completed, the company and its employees, and any other information.
Created SAS queries to determine profitability of partnerships, determine profitable and unprofitable characteristics of partnerships, prepared profit and quota shares. No standard hours, just 37.5 hours a week, 7.5 per day with a half hour lunch break

Did you have a mentor?

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
They were there for questions, should I have any. They provided a little bit of information on their background and path to becoming an actuary.

Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes, they prepared me well. It made many of the trainings rather redundant and kinda pointless.

Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
It was a two stage interview process. The first was a phone interview that lasted approximately 45 minutes. The other was an on site interview that lasted from 9 am to 2 pm, where I talked to three people for 40 minutes each, then had lunch with the two people that had escorted me between these three interviews.

Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
My project was to build an analytics query in SAS that would pull information of loss ratios, premium and loss dollar difference. An additional query was created to determine characteristics of vehicles that were more likely to appear in profitable partnerships than unprofitable ones

What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay? (Internship Lunches, Housing, Sports Games, Happy Hours, etc.)
There were several lunches with my team, my department and sometimes my buddy group (mentorship group

Describe the company's internship program(atmosphere, work load, work, housing, outside work activities, etc.).
It was a very open atmosphere where questions were more than welcome. There were trainings that occurred on a biweekly basis focusing on all aspects of the insurance business (ratemaking, reserving, excel, CAT, etc.). The workload for most interns is one major project, which is manageable

Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?

Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
1.5 flex days of time off per month

If you had to relocate, describe the process of adapting to a new city.
