Provide a General Description of the Internship. Include daily tasks completed, the company and its employees, and any other information.
I worked a standard 40 hour work week to support 10-15 reinsurance brokers on accounts in different stages in the renewal process. I helped organize and streamline the quote tracking process as well as preparing for client meetings.

Did you have a mentor?

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
I was able to ask her questions that I was not comfortable asking my line manager. Also, I could talk to her surrounding my experience and thought about the internship program and what I wanted in a career.

Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Yes. I was able to follow conversations in the office, with clients, and with the markets because I was exposed to industry jargon in class. I felt that I could add value to conversations since I had the core knowledge and could think of ideas from that base.

Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
Met the hiring manager at the intern reception in the fall. The first round was a 30 minute interview with a alumni broker on campus. Final round interview was at the office in Radnor in which we met with four different leaders in the office for 30 minutes each. The offer came within one week.

Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
My main project was helping the broker team on an 8/1 renewal in which I completed the quote tracking document. I then presented this in the firm order terms meeting. I also completed deductible and limit risk profiles for prospective clients. In addition, I did weekly reinsurance learnings and discussed current

What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay? (Internship Lunches, Housing, Sports Games, Happy Hours, etc.)
Yes. Several lunches with the team, softball and happy hours every week, and study hours were provided for the actuarial interns.

Describe the company's internship program(atmosphere, work load, work, housing, outside work activities, etc.).
There was a three day orientation with all (18) of the U.S. interns in NYC in which we had formal orientation in the company's New York Office. We had weekly speaker sessions with different leaders in the company where we could learn about different career paths and have the opportunity to ask questions. Halfway through the internship, we were given a group project that was to be completed with the other interns in our location and presented in the second to last week. We also had weekly training sessions on different business parts or general insurance knowledge.

Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?

Were you provided time off besides the weekend?
We had time off for national holidays

If you had to relocate, describe the process of adapting to a new city.
