My main projects include a full Profitability Study and 3 AvE analysis, generalized underwriting deliverables and presented them to the lead actuary and chief underwriting officer.

Did you have a mentor?
Yes

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
The assigned mentor is a great asset and a key factor of my internship experience. He spent approximately 1 hour per day to help me walk through the ratemaking process.

Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
As for the pricing side, the information from exam 5 is more widely used in daily work. However, the fundamental knowledges from exam P, FM, MFE is essential to the success of internship too.

Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
After the screening interview, there are only 1 more around with a FCAS and a FSA separately. No specific actuarial knowledge is required.The interview is mostly based on behavior questions.

Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
Generalized a 20-page AIG Financial Lines Pricing Actuarial cliff note containing both general actuarial and AIG specific information for actuarial internship program.

What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay? (Internship Lunches, Housing, Sports Games, Happy Hours, etc.)
Happy Hours & Bowling events

Describe the company's internship program(atmosphere, work load, work, housing, outside work activities, etc.).
The office has very international and respectful atmosphere. Formal training was set up for both general and actuarial specific interns.

Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?
