Provide a General Description of the Internship. Include daily tasks completed, the company and its employees, and any other information.
I worked 20-30 hours a week during the summer and currently work 10-15 hours a week in the fall. I performed a variety of tasks but the main bulk of my work was focused around quoting applications and then having the main underwriters approve and send them out. I also spent a good deal of time performing research on potential clients for the company to have brokers reach out too.

Did you have a mentor?

If so, how did he/she help you during your internship?
I wouldn't say I had a direct mentor but I worked more closely with one particular underwriter who would review my work with me and go over things I did well or should change for the future.

Did you feel your RMI/AS classes better prepared you for the internship?
Not really. I worked in underwriting professional liability for architects & engineers. Nothing was similar to that but I guess there were similar processes to things I have learned which could have transferred.

Interviewing/Hiring Process Comments:
Applied on their website portal. Received an email requesting a phone interview. Phone interview followed by in-person interview at the Bala office about two weeks later.

Were you assigned any special projects? If so please describe.
I would not necessarily say anything was a "special" project.

What were the supplemental benefits besides the pay? (Internship Lunches, Housing, Sports Games, Happy Hours, etc.)
I got invited to some social outings and occasional lunches.

Describe the company's internship program(atmosphere, work load, work, housing, outside work activities, etc.).
I had a blast working at RLI. The people I worked with were super friendly (fairly young too) and it was a very social atmosphere while still getting work done. They provide training seminars about various departments throughout the program. Not overwhelming work either.

Was the internship what you expected after the interviewing/hiring process?

Were you provided time off besides the weekend?

If you had to relocate, describe the process of adapting to a new city.
