Partner and Client Solutions Leader




Peter Kilmartin serves as the Client Solutions leader for the Mercer Health & Benefits LLC Business and a member of its North America Leadership Team. A Partner in the firm, he is responsible for developing and managing Mercer’s relationship with several major clients, providing strategic advice and orchestrating the delivery of a broad range of specialized services. He also serves as a national resource, working with others within Mercer to ensure consulting solutions are developed and positioned to effectively meet the needs of clients. Finally, Peter serves in an Executive Sponsor capacity for major carrier relationships.

Peter has a lead role on a number of client teams, working to align a company’s benefits strategy with that of its company business goals. He also works closely with clients in executing the agreed upon strategy to generate the desired activity and results. Health Reform has become a regular part of Peter’s client work and recent client engagements have included benefits integration, strategy redesign, consumerism analysis, data analytics, and management of complex bidding and negotiations. Peter actively contributes to a number of specialty practices, translating specialized subject matter into relevant business advice. He closely monitors external market trends, the evolving vendor landscaper and the dynamic regulatory environment.

Peter has been at Mercer for twelve years. Prior to joining Mercer, he worked at another large benefits consulting firm. Peter’s career started with insurance companies in an underwriting capacity, serving as a national accounts underwriter both at CIGNA Healthcare and Prudential Healthcare. Peter earned a BA in Economics and Spanish from the College of the Holy Cross and a JD from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is an active member of a number of industry groups and frequently presents at events sponsored by such organizations. He also volunteers his time, serving as an officer on the boards of non-profit organizations. DJDreamFund provides participation scholarships for children in need so they can say YES! to healthy living activities including athletics, arts, and camps. Easton Youth Soccer creates an appropriate and safe soccer environment in which children have fun, make friends, and build confidence.
